Songwriting.

I love writing songs. It's kind of my thing. I also love collaborating with fellow artists. Drop me a line if you have the seed of a new song and are looking for the right collaborator to help it grow. Or if you need an original song written for a special occasion, I can help there too.

Listen to me ramble on about my approach to songwriting. Thank you to John Nicholson (aka Coolparadiso) for inviting me on!

I Have My Doubts

Hannah Busse (vocals, piano, additional songwriting), David Taro (music and production)

Iā€™m hugely proud of this collaborative effort - I sent Hannah a demo with some painfully bad singing, and she transformed it into what you hear. She also redid the piano, changed up some chords and melodies, and generally made the thing about a million times better.

Hieroglyphs

Donna Devine (lyrics), Yeslessness (music), David Taro (music and production)

When Donna got in touch about this one, she mentioned a specific wish that the bridge sections be in a different 'voice' to the verses, and that that voice be a kind of wise old alien. Well, in his own words, Yeslessness is basically a wise old alien anyway, so who better to call in? I sent him a very rough demo up to the start of the bridge and he came back with some simply gorgeous music, which I then stitched together and polished up. Thank you Donna for letting us loose on such wildly imaginative and beautiful lyrics.

Hit Man

Patty Lakamp (lyrics), Rich Joseph (vocals), Georgie Cooper (backing vocals), David Taro (music and production)

Patty sent me some wonderful, fun, clever lyrics that initially had me totally stumped. But then I started hearing it sung in Rich's lustrous baritone and the song just sort of wrote itself. Georgie then went to work as a one-woman backing group, adding loads of cool stuff that I'd never have thought of. And the end result is a real team effort.
